Techsuyo: Peruvian talent to close gaps with the Silicon Valley seal

Arequipa it houses Techsuyo 2023. In this space, dozens of Peruvians who migrated to Silicon Valley —and succeed in giants like Google and Apple or revolutionized the market with their ventures— share their points of view to push our country towards the technological forefront.

One of the messages that represents the objective of this forum, developed at the San Pablo Catholic University, in Arequipais the diversification of talent when creating a team to “solve problems that do not yet exist”, as stated by Dusko Kelez (founder of Hapi, a Peruvian company that makes it easier for the public to invest in Wall Street). On the other hand, perseverance to break with the status quo of creative manifestations is also highlighted, such is the case of Pedro Querebalu, who began as a designer at Gamarra and is now account manager of Google.

For her part, Mariana Acosta, co-founder of Laboratoria+, reflected the virtues of female talent in entrepreneurship spaces and how paradigms break; since, with the training, they have achieved that more than 3,400 women graduate with sufficient knowledge to work in a tech firm (82% are employed), even though they do not have a college degree, as is often required. “With their talent, they have shown it,” he said.

In addition, to close social gaps, it seeks to transform the market using channels close to people such as WhatsApp, said Andres Flores, from BCP, who recalled that currently only 53% of Peruvians are banked.

Another crucial factor is the use of artificial intelligence in the agriculture. This would increase the effectiveness of the calculations of hectares to work or when applying pesticides without affecting other spaces, according to Cesar Urrutia, co-founder of Space Ag, a Peruvian start-up that is revolutionizing this sector.
