The Chairman of the Board of Petroperú, Pedro Chirarevealed that there are up to eight comprehensive service companies interested in partnering with the state company to cover the technical requirements of operation in blocks I, VI and Z-2B of Talara, as part of the direct negotiation carried out by Perupetro.
During the visit made by officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) and Perupetro to the new Talara Refinery, Chira Fernández explained that the oil company was classified, according to current regulations, as an economic subject for the aforementioned lots, but it had to overcome the technical qualification barrier before signing the new contracts.
“As part of the process, we must have a contract with a service company for the three lots that perform at least four of the services indicated in the qualification regulations,” Chira said.
Each operation on these fields requires about sixteen services. Petroperú expects to obtain a service company for four of them, and the rest to be negotiated with the outgoing contractors, according to information to which it agreed. The Republic.
“What I can tell you is that we have up to eight companies interestedwith which we are negotiating or, soon, we will launch a contest to choose the service company that will work with us on the lots,” said the head of Petroperú.
The official explained that these companies will take charge of the drilling and operation of the deposits. The contracts for lots I and VI conclude on October 21, while the papers for Lot Z-2B -whose area will be expanded to become Z-69- will do the same on November 15.
“In the specific case of offshore [plataformas marinas] is no different. It is the way the industry operates: the operator is not the one who does the work on the wells, he does it through qualified service companies,” he remitted.
“It is what the regulation contemplates and Petroperú, by this means, can be the operator of 100% of the lots whose contracts are about to end,” said Chira.
