Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is one of the most used fuels by transport vehicles; however, in recent weeks a shortage has been reported, which has caused concern among carriers.

The president of the Regional Transport Coordinator, wilson childHe said that 60% of the taps in Lambayeque no longer have the fuel because the few quantities that are produced remain in the Peruvian capital. “The LPG that is being brought from the Pampilla refinery is being left in Lima and the other regions are not served,” he said.

How many vehicles use LPG in Lambayeque?

The leader mentioned that in the region there are at least 35,000 carriers, who have to go to other provinces to supply their vehicles. “Some taps have very little fuel, which only supplies the units for one more day. Then we will be left without supplies, ”he said.

What actions will Minem take to avoid LPG shortages?

Faced with this situation, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), through a statement, expressed that it will establish measures to guarantee the supply of LPG throughout Peru. It should be noted that the shortage began to be felt at the national level since last August 17 and that pluspetrol supplies 70% of the country’s production of liquefied petroleum gas.
