Will Ucayali have domestic natural gas? This said the Ministry of Energy and Mines

The massification of domestic natural gas in Peru it is still in process. This is due to the need of thousands of homes to obtain energy at a lower cost for domestic use and economic activities. One of the next regions to benefit would be Ucayali, a place where this problem was recently analyzed during a forum at the National University of Ucayali (UNU), in the city of Pucallpa, organized by Minem.

Will Ucayali have domestic natural gas?

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Óscar Vera Gargurevich, explained during his virtual presentation in said forum that the construction of networks of natural gas in Ucayali. He emphasized that this process is part of the massification plans for this energy resource for central, southern and eastern Peru.

Our objective is to begin this year with the construction of natural gas networks, which will allow the distribution of Aguaytía gas to the entire region. I ask for the commitment of the local authorities, who with their support on the issue of permits will contribute significantly to the start of the works,” he said.

How will the construction of natural gas networks develop in Ucayali?

According to the general director of Minem Hydrocarbons, Luis García, the supply of natural gas would be carried out from Block 31-C, operated by Aguaytía Energy, and that through the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE) the funds would be provided to tender the construction work of home networks.

García emphasized that articulated work with the Regional Government of Ucayali. This last entity would be in charge of identifying the land on which the infrastructure that will allow the distribution of natural gas will be established.

Once we have the land, the support of the bidding comes in charge of the Minem. We will establish the bases and through the FISE we will provide the funds to tender the work for the distribution networks“, he detailed.

Likewise, citizens will be trained on the installation of gas, through the Administration Committee of Training Resources (Carec), and thus generate employment in Ucayali.

The announcements were greeted by the regional governor of Ucayali, Manuel Gambini.
