As President Dina Boluarte announced on August 25 in San Juan de Lurigancho, the base that fishermen will receive at retirement and for the disability benefit was increased to S/360. With the rule recently published in the newspaper El Peruano, it is estimated that this measure will benefit 2,622 fishermen, which represents 35.3% of the total (7,422) who today receive a pension.

Regarding the amounts of pensions for widowhood and orphanhood, the rules established in the Law Regulating the Special Social Security Regime for Fishing Workers and Pensioners will be applied.

Finally, it is established that its financing will come from the resources of the Extraordinary Fisherman’s Fund, which is administered by the Consolidated Reserve Fund and that it will transfer to the Pension Standardization Office the necessary resources established in the supreme decree.

Pension for fishermen: since when can it be collected?

In the complementary provision of Supreme Decree No. 187-203, it is provided that the amounts indicated in articles 2 and 3 will be applied from the payment corresponding to the month following the publication of the regulation in the El Peruano newspaper. I mean, September.

Let us remember that the Minister of Economy and Finance, Alex Contreras, declared to the media that this measure will be implemented in September and that it will benefit thousands of fishermen who previously received S/15 or S/20.
