Victor Erice will receive a Donostia Award at the 71st edition of the San Sebastian Film Festival. After the one granted to the Spanish actor Javier Bardemthe honorary award for the Biscayan director is the second announced by this year’s Zinemaldia.

The honorary award of the festival comes just when the 50th anniversary of the Golden Shell that he won The spirit of doomhis first feature film. The festival will also offer Close the eyes, a film “about memory spun around an unfinished film and the mysterious disappearance of an actor”. It has already passed through Cannes and Toronto. The film will be released in commercial theaters on the same day the honorary award is presented.
