Exchange rate: dollar begins to drop at S / 3.7073 this Wednesday, August 23

This Wednesday, August 23, the exchange rate of the dollar it began to fall in our country and was located around S/3.7073, according to preliminary data published by the Bloomberg international currency listing portal.

The day before, the North American currency had started its career at S/3.7325 and then de-escalated to S/3.7240, which was marked by the official dashboard of the Central Reserve Bank (BCRP).

This occurs while, in our country, the National Agrarian Health Service of Peru (Senasa) has warned that pests in tomato and pepper crops would cause losses of US$8.5 million.

In addition, the new Peruvian port of Chancay, which is being built by the Chinese company Cosco Shipping, has aroused the interest of neighboring economies such as Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador.

Internationally, the United States criticized China for reducing the transparency of its reporting on basic economic data in recent months and for cracking down on Chinese companies that had been providing such data, calling their behavior irresponsible.

Meanwhile, crude oil prices remain firm internationally. West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the main marker for our region, settled at a price of US$80.35 per barrel after falling 0.46%.
