Yape: between April and June, 615 million transactions were made with this mobile wallet

Yape, in recent months, has managed to contribute to the financial inclusion of Peruvians. Thus, in the quarter between April and June 615 million transactions have been made through this mobile walletaccording to Cesar RiosCFO of Credicorp Capital.

“Yape continues to advance steadily in its monetization strategy and expects to break even in 2024. Of the 12.6 million yaperos, 9 million (that is, 70%) have performed at least one operation in the last month“, complements RĂ­os.

It also indicated that between April and June there were also 34.4 million telephone recharges, more than 4 million service payment operations, which represented 8 times what was registered in the first quarter.

Finally, according to the representative of Credicorp, more than 1.4 million operations were registered with ANDape Promos and more than 165,000 were disbursed microcredits for a total of S/53.3 million.

Yape and interoperability

Since mid-April, digital wallets such as Yape and Plin, by order of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP), can already interoperate, this as part of Phase 1 of interoperability established by the monetary authority.

Phase 2, which will force banks, municipal and financial savings banks to allow money to be sent to each other through the cell phone number, is scheduled to conclude on September 13.

To implement Phase 2 of interoperability, the BCRP has agreed that multiple cybersecurity measures are required between the financial entities involved, in accordance with the requirements of the Superintendence of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS).
