A healthy diet can help reduce the risk of developing cancer. This was stated by oncologist Andrey Vorobyov, writes MedikForum.

According to the doctor, eating a variety of beneficial anti-inflammatory foods can provide protection. Legumes are among them: Lentils, chickpeas, and beans, rich in fiber, protein, and antioxidants, may have anti-inflammatory effects. For example, fiber can promote a healthy gut microbiome, which plays a role in immune function and regulation of inflammation.

The doctor also recommends drinking more green tea, which is rich in polyphenols, compounds in which can help neutralize harmful molecules called free radicals, which can cause oxidative stress and inflammation.

Adding to the list of anti-cancer foods is turmeric, which has an impressive nutritional profile, containing an active compound called curcumin, which has a “strong” anti-inflammatory effect. According to the doctor, all you need is black pepper or fat to activate the power of curcumin.

Finally, dark chocolate closes the top five useful products. It can increase the content of flavonoids and therefore reduce inflammation.

The doctor warned that one in two people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime, so prevention is important. Proper nutrition, exercise, an active social life will help prevent or delay a fatal disease, the doctor is sure.
