Mincetur: non-traditional exports grew 3.3% in the first half of 2023

He Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reported that, between January and June 2023, sales of non-traditional goods (NT) grew 3.3% compared to what was registered in the same period last year.

This result has been the product of higher sales of non-metallic minerals (+58.1%), hydrobiological products (+30.7%) and agricultural products (+5.9%).

“The non-traditional sector has sustained significant growth throughout the first six months of the year, which encourages us to continue working for its growth and development. Despite the difficult start to the year, we are optimistic and hope to continue on this path”, said Minister Juan Carlos Mathews.

The non-traditional agricultural sector totaled US$3,687 million in shipments between January and June, highlighting the higher exports of avocado (+25.2%), blueberry (+22.2%) and grapes (+15.8%), goods that totaled US$633 million, US$200 million and US$667 million, respectively.

The fishing industry recorded sales of US$1,147 million at the end of June. Among the products that stood out the most was squid, with an accumulated amount of US$612 million (+158.7%) and canned fish sales, which reached US$45 million (+4.1%).

Finally, as detailed in the Monthly Trade Report – June 2023, non-metallic mining exports totaled US$517 million, thanks to higher shipments of natural calcium phosphates, which totaled US$318 million (+70.6%), and anthracites , although it achieved sales of US$143 million (+83.5%).

Exports to China accumulated US$11,337 million

China, USA and the European Union They remain Peru’s three main trading partners in the world.

At the end of June, national exports with the first of them have accumulated a total of US$11,337 million, a value 10.7% higher than what was obtained in the same period, during 2022.

Exports to the United States have also grown. Between January and June, sales to the North American country have totaled US$4,148 million (+4.7%) and it also remains the main destination for Peruvian exports of agricultural and textile goods.

In the case of the European Union, after the end of the first half of the year, a slight increase in exports of 1.8% was observed, reaching US$3,266 million. In the last 12 months, the block concentrated 28% of Peruvian agricultural exports to the world.
