ASPEC recommends observation of laboratories that carry out product quality reports

This Friday, December 3, the precautionary measure for the cessation and commercialization of the products was issued Marbled bimboletes from the Bimbo brand, Panettone with raisins and candied fruits, from the Bell’s brand; and Cheese Tris of the Frito Lay brand, which would contain trans fats in an amount greater than that established by current regulations such as Supreme Decree 033-2016-SA, established by the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi).

In this regard, Peruvian Association of Consumers and Users (ASPEC) ruled on the imposed ordinance and recommended, through a statement, to Indecopi and the National Quality Institute (Inacal) that observe the procedures of the laboratories that carry out product quality reports because they involve the health and interests of thousands of citizens.

We recommend Indecopi and Inacal to observe the behavior of the laboratories because what they do can affect the interest of thousands of people and it can drastically alter the outcome of the processes initiated by Indecopi ”.

In addition, he detailed that “support their complaints in the corresponding laboratory tests and everything went well until this year the laboratory we hired to confirm our suspicions that certain products that had to carry the octagon “HIGH IN SUGAR” was not recorded. The laboratory proved us right but, later and in an unusual way, went wrong favoring companies that we had denounced ”.

Finally, he stressed that despite the severity of the case, the decision that sanctions companies: Bimbo, Bell’s brand and Frito Lay was not taken by unanimity but by majority vote and that it is not a final resolution. Therefore, it can be appealed by the companies involved.
