The CAV recovers 98.1% of the employment destroyed by the pandemic

In the CAV there were 650 fewer unemployed people than in October and in Navarra 426 fewer.

The Basque Autonomous Community has recovered 98.1% of the job destroyed In this crisis, since in August 2020 the highest number was reached, 146,450, which was 29,211 more than in February of that year, and since then it has been reduced by 28,671 people.

Specifically in November, the number of unemployed people registered in the offices of the public employment services has descended on the CAV in 650 people in relation to October (-0.55%), with which there are 117,779 unemployed people, according to data from the Department of Labor and Employment of the Basque Government and the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy.

This figure represents 14 657 fewer unemployed people than in November 2020 (-11.05%), although it still exceeds by 540 the number of unemployed in February of last year, the last month before the health crisis began.

Even so, both in the monthly and inter-annual evolution, the Basque Autonomous Community has reduced unemployment in November below the state average, which has fallen by 2.28% compared to October and by 17.36% compared to November 2020.

Unemployment fell in the BAC, mainly in Industry and Services, and especially in Álava and Bizkaia.

Unemployment decreases this month only among women (-778) and increases among men (+128). This is because the activation of activities such as trading in the prelude to the christmas campaign favors the hiring of women workers.

Nevertheless, in the annual relationship, the decrease in unemployment is greater among men (-7801) than among women (-6856). Although they were the most affected in the initial moment of the crisis, they are showing a greater capacity for recovery. At present, the 56.2% of the people employed in the CAV are women.

On Navarra, registered unemployment fell in November by 426 people, which represents 1.33%, bringing the total number of people in the unemployment register to 31,702.

According to the data provided this Wednesday by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, in the Autonomous Community there are 7 825 fewer unemployed than in November 2020, which represents a year-on-year decrease of 19.80%.
