LPG price is heading to continue to get more expensive

Petroperú reported that the increases in the list prices of bottled liquefied petroleum gas (LPG-E) recently presented have occurred “in strict compliance with the regulations associated with the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (FEPC)”, after applying the legal provisions that raise the limits of the Price Band by S / 0.42 per kilo.

This, after the alert of the Peruvian Organization of Consumers and Users (Opecu) about an increase of S / 0.496 per kilo, including taxes, by Petroperú, to the point that the 10 kg gas balloon became more expensive by S / 4.96.

Petroperú details that in Callao its supplier Pluspetrol raised the primary sale price of bottled LPG by S / 0.42 / kg, and they had to transfer said variation and increase the price from S / 2.75 to S / 3.17 / kg , without considering taxes; and in Talara, the price increased from S / 2.74 to S / 3.16 / kg, without considering taxes.

It is worth emphasizing that, to date, LPG balloon It ranges between S / 47 and S / 60 in SJM, does not drop from S / 52 in Breña and reaches up to S / 58 in SJL, according to Facilito de Osinergmin.

Gustavo Navarro, managing partner of Gas Energy Latin America in Peru, specified that the increase in LPG-E responds to the “upward adjustment” of the price band applied a few weeks ago after the compensation received -which reduced the price by up to S / 10- at the beginning of its reinsertion into the FEPC in September.

However, he points out that “it is unfair” to throw the load on Petroperú, given that currently “he does not even play as a substitute” in the market.

Navarro notes that the leader in the LPG market is Camisea, but it does not produce enough, since up to 30% is imported, and firms such as Llama Gas, Zeta Gas and Solgas participate more in the final sale, which fix their price of according to the international context even though we should not depend on it.
