Mining exports grew 73.3% between January and August

The National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy (SNMPE) reported that Peru’s mining exports reached 25,496 million dollars between January and August of this year, a figure that represented an increase of 73.3% compared to the similar period of 2020, when 14,709 million dollars were reported.

Even mining exports from January to August 2021 are higher than the prepandemic stage, since when comparing the period of 2019 (18,369 million dollars), they show an increase of 38.8%.

Only in August of this year, mining exports amounted to 3,427 million dollars, an amount that represented a growth of 75.7%.

Also, the SNMPE He specified that copper exports last August reached 1,775 million dollars, which meant an increase of 143.5% compared to 2020 (729 million dollars).

In August 2020, copper exports they benefited from the 51.9% increase in copper prices and the 60.3% increase in the volume of shipments abroad.

Meanwhile, in August 2021, gold exports reached $ 872 million, a figure that symbolizes a 24.4% increase over the previous year ($ 701 million).

Exports of this metal were favored by the increase in the volume of shipments abroad by 37.2%, despite the fact that the price of gold registered a fall of 9.3% compared to August 2020.
