He National Institute of Quality (Inacal), an organization attached to the Ministry of Production (Produce), accredited seven product certification organizations to carry out activities to certify the quality and safety of organic products in the country in order to promote and guarantee fair and transparent trade in these products. Three more organizations will be accredited in the coming days.

What is the accreditation for?

The accreditation granted by Inacal recognizes the technical competence of these organic product certification bodies, in compliance with DS N°044-2006-AG, that establish guidelines to encourage the production, transformation, labeling, certification and commercialization of organically grown and processed food products.

The accreditation makes it possible for these organizations to meet one of the requirements to request authorization from the competent national authority, which allows them to certify organic products, in accordance with current regulations.

In addition, Its purpose is to guarantee consumers that the so-called organic products comply with what is technically established, aimed at promoting the suitability and transparency of all agents in the certification processes of organic products.

In the same way, farmers will be able to count on greater mechanisms to differentiate their organic products from conventional products, and thus improve its exportable supply.

“Given the increase in demand in the production and export of organic products in Peru, The role played by accreditation for global trade is fundamental, since it generates trust between importing and exporting countries by ensuring that the products and services meet the established quality, safety and performance specifications”, highlighted César José Bernabé Pérez, executive president of Inacal.
