from this Monday the 17th to the 21st of July, close to 100 brands will participate in the Cyber Days, event organized by the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL). These dates, when promotions and discounts on internet purchases abound, are also taken advantage of by fraudulent brands that, far from contributing to the growth of electronic commerce, generate insecurity in new netizens.

Thus, Jaime Montenegroleader of the CCL Digital Transformation Center, provides some recommendations to recognize a fraudulent e-commerce and what to do.

  1. Look for opinions and reviews about the brand: Before making an acquisition, evaluate the reputation of the brand. To do this, you can use social networks, search engines or even ask your trusted circles if they have ever bought on said portal and what their experience has been.
  • Don’t be convinced by too low prices: If very attractive offers arrive, before dazzling yourself, review the terms and conditions. A large part of the scams are promoted by promoting very low prices, with which they seek to attract buyers. Therefore, filter as much as you can before making an impulse purchase.
  • Check that it has physical offices: Trusted online stores will always have data in sight such as a physical address (although not necessarily a physical location), as well as a telephone number and email. You can review it in the legal notice, in which, most likely, the company’s data will appear. If an online business does not provide this information, it may be a red flag. For this reason, the expert suggests verifying that these data exist.
  • Check which brands participate in Cyber Days: Because it is a massive campaign, many websites (not necessarily trustworthy) and fraudulent companies tend to hang on to it and seek to make users believe that they are part of Cyber Days. Therefore, before buying online during these dates, go HERE and check which brands are participating in the event.
