User had more than 7,000 mobile lines in his name without having contracted them

Osiptelthe Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications, has reported on the amount of moving lines that appear on behalf of the clients of the main operators in the country, among these, the case of a person who has more than 7,000 telephone numbers in his name has been highlighted. The user acknowledged that he did not contract such an exaggerated amount. As part of these reports, many cases of people with more than 100 lines have also been found.

Osiptel reports that a single user had more than 7,000 lines that he did not contract in his name

Osiptel reported the case of a client with more than 7,000 lines —which he never contracted— in his name, as part of the “Check your line” campaign, so that users can find out if they have more phones taken out under their identities, especially that they have not requested. But, in addition, this body has reported more than 80 cases of clients who have from 100 to 7,000 of these lines in the records of the operating companies.

“In some of the cases, the names do not match the identity documents provided,” said the executive president of Osiptel, Rafael Muente Schwarz. Only in 2022, the main telephone companies in the country (Movistar, Claro, Entel and Bitel) registered nearly 80,000 claims for “unsolicited hiring in the public postpaid mobile service” and more than 10,000 questions of prepaid ownership, “lines that , probably the majority, were contracted on an outpatient basis”, according to Osiptel.

How to verify the telephone lines that I have in my name?

Osiptel has been promoting the “Check your line” campaign, so that users can find out what mobile lines they have in their name, and thus verify that none have been taken out without their consent and with fraudulent measures. To access this information you only have to enter the following link and enter your data: https://checatuslineas.osiptel.gob.pe/

“With the answers given by the users, we will verify if they are identity theft for the contracting of mobile lines, out-of-date procedures or bad reports from the operating companies to Osiptel,” said Muente Schwarz.
