Latam Cargo has added a new aircraft, the Boeing 767 BCF, to transport flowers in the region, increasing its combined fleet of cargo aircraft to 18. With this new addition, the company plans to increase its presence in export and import markets and continue its fleet growth plan, supporting the transport flowers from Ecuador and Colombia.
The multinational company Emergent Cold Latam has started operations in Ecuador with a new center for the storage of frozen products
Since 2019, the company has tripled its operations from Medellín and Bogotá, going from 12 weekly flights in 2019 to 35 in 2023. In the case of Ecuador, the group’s presence has increased by 131% since 2019, with 13 weekly departures from Quito that year , which will increase to around 30 this year.
For this reason, Latam Cargo will use the new capacities to strengthen exports from Ecuador and Colombia. The group was able to add seven new frequencies with departures from Quito, Bogotá and Medellín, increasing the capacity offered to customers in the flower sector by 20%. The group estimates that with this increase in capacity, it will strengthen itself as a leader in the flower market from South America to the United States.
According to Andrés Bianchi, CEO of Latam Cargo, the strategic decisions and installation of this new freighter are a direct response to the company’s commitment to clients to support them in their long-term needs.
Latam closed 2022 with a 37.5% reduction in its gross debt and 78% higher liquidity
“When we promoted the cargo fleet growth plan, we made a firm commitment to our customers. From investing in an adequate fleet to a significant increase in frequency on emblematic routes, such as those supporting the floriculture sector, which now allows the operators of the Latam Cargo group to be positioned as leaders in the transport of one of the most famous products of the region: flowers from Colombia and Ecuador,” said the executive director.
In turn, the arrival of this new aircraft strengthens the network of destinations that the group offers from its hub in Miami. In recent weeks, the group announced new flights from this city to Guayaquil (Ecuador), San José dos Campos (Brazil), Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), San Salvador (El Salvador) and Georgetown (English Guiana).
