The cheapest cars available in Ecuador

The desire for a new vehicle motivates many citizens to look for different sources of financing. A wide variety of vehicle brands and models are sold in the country.

Prices vary depending on the features offered by the vehicle. Chinese, South Korean and American companies are fighting for the market, but there are others as well. According to figures from the Association of Automobile Companies of Ecuador (Aeada), families are more likely to buy SUVs (sports utility vehicleaccording to the acronym in English, or ‘sports utility vehicle’, in Spanish), followed by cars and trucks.

1.- Kia PICANTO (from $12,899)

From gas. It’s a five-speed manual transmission plus reverse. Engine type 1.2 L MPI (multipoint injection) with electronic power steering, available without and with air conditioning. Front disc brakes and rear drum brakes and electric front windows. Fuel consumption 65 km per gallon.

2.- HYUNDAI GRAND I10 (from USD 14,590)

Least hatchback from this company offers low fuel consumption (63 km/gallon), anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESP), four-wheel disc brakes, power door locks with central locking, power windows, air conditioning, among other features.

3.- RENAULT KWID (from USD 14,825)

It is compact with all the equipment that an SUV has. It is the only one in its category with electric steering, which allows greater control behind the wheel and greater comfort during every maneuver. It has an instrument panel with LED screens, air conditioning and electric front windows.

4.- CHANGAN ALSVIN (from $15,990)

It has a BlueCore technology engine, which makes it more efficient, less polluting and quieter. It delivers 92 bhp of power, fuel efficiency of up to 18 kmpl and is a five-speed manual transmission plus a reverse gear.

5.- Kia THE SOLUTION (from $15,999)

Volume 1.4 L and maximum power 94 HP. It has a manual transmission and consumes 60 km/gallon. WITH airbag for the driver and passenger.

6.- RENAULT SANDERO (from $16,455)

It has a 1.6 L engine with 111 hp (horsepower) and air conditioning. It complies with the Euro V standard, therefore it creates less emissions of polluting gases. It has a timing chain and does not require belt changes, three-point seat belts, electronic stability control and hill start assistant.

7.- CHERRY ARRIZO (from $16,490)

This Chinese proposal is equipped with a 1.5 cc Acteco engine and has a power of 114 hp (horsepower). It also has radar and a reversing camera, airbags headlights, driving safety systems (ABS, EBD, ESP), tire pressure monitoring and air conditioning. It’s five speeds plus reverse. With a fuel capacity of 11 gallons.

8.- RENAULT LOGAN (from $16,545)

It has a 1.6L engine with 111 hp. Use front ventilated disc brakes and rear drum brakes. It has dual optical headlights, directional lights in the mirrors and electric outside mirrors. Front and rear electric lifts and four airbags: driver, passenger and front.

9.- CHEVROLET JOY BLACK (from USD 17,200)

It has a gasoline engine of 97 hp (horsepower). It is a 5-speed manual, with a fuel tank of 54 liters. has double airbag, burglar alarm, brake system with ABS and distribution (“EBD”). With a 7-inch touchscreen radio with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

10.- SUZUKI SWIFT (from USD 17,590)
