The head of the Ministry of Labor and Promotion of Employment (MTPE), Fernando Varela, announced that next Thursday, July 13, the dialogue will resume in the National Labor Council (CNT), a space for tripartite dialogue where workers, the State and employers.

In this context, Gustavo Minaya, assistant general secretary of the General Confederation of Workers of Peru (CGTP), pointed out that the reinstatement of the CNT It comes after the International Labor Organization (ILO) urged the Executive Power to make labor standards in harmony with the parties involved.

“The most interested party here is the Government because it has been summoned at the international level for not carrying out its work as guarantor that social dialogue and compliance with agreement 87 is not being fulfilled. We did not distance ourselves from the CNT, the ones who separated were the businessmen,” said the union leader.

Among the points to be discussed in the CNT will be the discussion on the minimum vital remuneration (RMV), which currently stands at S/1,025.

According to Minaya, the workers will request an increase in the minimum wage due to the rise in the prices of the basic basket, while the technical formula that must be taken into account for successive increases in the wage is being discussed and approved. RMV. In addition, they will ask that any debate that has been taking place in the Congress of the Republic regarding basic remuneration be suspended, since this issue must go through tripartite social dialogue in the CNT.

The other priority point for the workers is the increase in ONP pensions, since it is very far from the minimum wage and has not been updated since 2019.
