The alcoholic beverages market in Peru expects to invoice a total of S/1,455 million this year, which would reach a growth of 11.9% compared to the previous year, This was projected by the president of the Guild of Importers and Merchants of Wines and Spirits of the Chamber of Commerce of Lima (CCL), Rodrigo Díaz.
“One of the main factors that will contribute to this growth will be the continued recovery of the on-trade channel, a place where the customer buys and consumes the product immediately, such as bars and restaurants, since these activities are increasing. However, this channel, to date, has not managed to reach the pre-pandemic level,” Díaz said.
He added that, although the majority of Peruvians still prefer to make face-to-face purchases and continue to experience contact with the products, there is a growing group of consumers who have been opting for digital channels.
In relation to the performance of the market in 2022, he maintained that the transactions registered a positive annual return of more than S/1,300 million, which represented an advance of 11.3% compared to the previous year, in which all categories reported growths.
“In that year, the categories that were above average were RTD (Ready to drink or ready-to-drink premixed drinks) and sparkling wines. Also, smaller categories such as appetizers, gin and tequila stood out”, projection.
Finally, Rodrigo Díaz maintained that the alcoholic beverages market in Peru It is mainly domestically produced. However, those that are imported have been registering a significant presence pending the entry of new categories, due to global consumption trends.
