The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) plans to begin this year the preparation of the pre-investment study of the Lima–Barranca railway projectwhich includes a route of 210 kilometers.
This modern means of transport planned as fast, safe and friendly to the environment, It will cross the cities of Lima, Huaral, Huaura and Barranca.
According to the MTC, the railway It will reduce travel times, accident rates, traffic congestion, greenhouse gas emissions and environmental noise pollution.
It will connect with line 3 of the Lima Metro
For a better interconnection, the stroke of the train, within the metropolitan area of the capital, will be linked with Line 3 of the Lima and Callao Metro through interchange stations. In other words, there will be an integration between the different railway projects that the sector is developing.

In addition, an intermodal station will be designed to connect to the Lima–Barranca railway with various modes of passenger transport such as urban trains and interprovincial and metropolitan service buses, through a connection with the future Ancon Truck Center.
“This future railway project will facilitate the development of new areas of urban development, production, logistics and services in the area of influence of the interurban system,” said the MTC. In addition, among its benefits, it will facilitate the connection with the ports of Chancay and Callao.
