The Premier Hannibal Torres called on mining investors to continue trusting in Peru, during his speech at the closing of Perumin 2022which took place in the city of Arequipa.
Torres recalled, at the beginning of his speech, that the development of Peru has been historically linked to mining. He then recalled that Peru practices a social market economy system, which has as a main actor the private initiative, but also the State.
The premier pointed out that, among the measures that the Government will promote, is simplifying the procedures so that mining explorations are carried out more promptly. “That investors have the full assurance that their investments in Peru are safe,” he said to the reaction of applause from the audience.
However, later, the premier recalled that investments must be developed with respect for the environment and workers’ rights, and that companies must pay their taxes. He also argued that the taxes belong to the Condition and not the company
In another part of the speech, Torres recalled that, in areas close to mining, human development has not improved. He asked the mining companies to continue working on social development projects and cited successful cases of the company Southern.
