Coach Borodavko said that without international starts in Russia, interest in skiing has increased
Yury Borodavko, head coach of the Russian cross-country skiing team, found a plus in the absence of international starts for the national team. It is reported by “Match TV”.
According to the specialist, in the conditions of international isolation in the country, interest in skiing has increased. “Not only from the audience, but also from the side of the sponsors. They pay more attention to the leaders of the Russian national team, provide support, ”said Borodavko.
In April, Borodavko lamented the lack of competition for three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov at domestic competitions. “In some races this season, Bolshunov lacked competition. He won in the region of a minute – this is a lot, ”said the specialist.
On September 22 last year, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) denied Russian athletes admission to international tournaments for the 2022/2023 season. Skiers were suspended for the first time in March 2022.
