Oil companies paid more than US $ 899 million in royalties until October of this year

The National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy (SNMPE) reported that between January and October of this year, companies that work in the hydrocarbon sector paid a total of US $ 899 million 700 thousand to the Peruvian State for royalties.

This figure represented a growth of 140% compared to the US $ 375 million paid by oil companies for royalties in the period from January to October 2020.

In October alone, companies operating in the national hydrocarbon industry paid US $ 157 million in royalties, which meant an increase of 217.5% compared to the same month of 2020 (US $ 49 million 400 thousand).

Also, royalties last October (US $ 157 million) were also higher than those reported in the same month of 2019 (US $ 61 million).

The mining and energy union explained that, in October of this year, companies in the hydrocarbon sector paid royalties: US $ 78,900,000 for the exploitation of natural gas and US $ 21,100,000 for oil; as well as US $ 57 million for the production of natural gas liquids.

The SNMPE indicated that the increase in royalties it was favored by the increase in international prices of oil and natural gas, as well as by the reactivation of the world and national economy.
