The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) appointed the economist Lorena de Guadalupe Masías Quiroga as the new head of the Superintendency of the Stock Market (SMV).
Through supreme resolution No. 004-2023-EF, the resignation presented by Mr. José Manuel Jesús Peschiera Rebagliati in the position of superintendent is accepted, thanking him for the services rendered.
Lorena Masías is an economist graduated from the Universidad del Pacífico, with a master’s and doctorate in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh (United States). She has more than 20 years of experience in advising and managing public entities and projects.
Before being elected to direct the SMV, Lorena Masías held the chair of executive director of the National Fund for the Financing of State Business Activity (Fonafe), a position she held from February 2020 until today, which was replaced by Betty Armida Sotelo bazan.
The SMV is a specialized technical body attached to the MEF whose purpose is to ensure the protection of investors, the efficiency and transparency of the markets under its supervision, the correct formation of prices and the dissemination of all the information necessary for such purposes.
The supreme resolution bears the signature of President Dina Boluarte and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Alex Contreras.
