With an investment of 80 million dollars, TVCable decided to turn its core business and become Xtrim, a technology and entertainment company, which launched its new brand after a process that began a year and a half ago with research based on four fundamental aspects.
The first was related to the aggressive development of the Internet industry after the pandemic, in which the company saw a unique opportunity for growth.
Next was to understand the new direction of the brand. “From this arose the need to separate from TVCable, as it was the benchmark for selling cable television, a market that was in rapid contraction,” the company explained in a statement.

In the meantime, it was also necessary to get to know the users better, said the company, which claims that Ecuadorians have become more technologically advanced and that the Internet is a means by which they achieve their professional and personal goals.
The last step consisted of analyzing the advantages of the competition: what it offers, to whom it is addressed and how.
In addition, the brand runs three projects. The first is the expansion of the network to 50 new cities; action representing a payout of 50 million dollars. “At the beginning of the year, 90,000 families from Milagro, Jaramijó, Chone, Quevedo and Santa Elena received a high-tech service that they did not have at their fingertips,” said the company, which announced that the next phase will soon begin in Sierra.
The next project is the complete migration of its mixed networks, from coaxial cable and optical fibers, to 100% optical fiber. Cities such as Guayaquil, Samborondón, Daule, Durán, Quito and Cuenca already have service. Xtrim allocated 28 million dollars for this project.
Internet traffic in homes has increased by up to 63% amid the COVID-19 pandemic
Maria del Carmen Buenaventura, marketing manager of Xtrim, explained that they decided to pivot their core business to provide value to the lives of Ecuadorians through the Internet, which, according to the executive, exists not only to entertain, but also to promote personal and professional development.
“Performing self-taught and academic studies from home; starting a business without the need for space; apply for remote jobs; enjoy unlimited multimedia content; become tape or influencer, earning from own content. That and more make this room for improvement,” said Buenaventura.
