During the meeting, the leaders of the World Bank and the IDB expressed their willingness to continue promoting shared prosperity and poverty reduction in Peru through financing, policy advice, and technical assistance to the public sector, in addition to implementing actions to strengthen the sector. private.

Both organizations also indicated that they will continue to contribute to closing the economic and social gaps between urban and rural areas; and will support the increase in the productivity of the Peruvian economy based on inclusive and sustainable growth.

Meanwhile, Minister Contreras said that the visit of the presidents of both international organizations to Peru represents a recognition of the efforts of the Executive Power to improve the perception of the country before international investors. “The support of the World Bank and the IDB in the areas in which they collaborate with Peru will be fundamental in the path of the reactivation of the national economy,” he remarked.

This is the first visit that Banga and Goldfajn have made to Peru since they took up their respective posts at the World Bank and the IDB, and it is part of an international tour that will take them to different countries on five continents.

IDB and World Bank project portfolio in Peru

As of May 31 of this year, the World Bank, through the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BIRF), maintained a portfolio of operations contracted in Peru for US$1,663.72 million, mainly focused on financing investment projects in the agricultural sectors. , environment, justice, production, health, sanitation and transportation, among others.

Meanwhile, the IDB had a portfolio of operations in Peru for US$2,664.1 million, mainly focused on financing investment projects in the transportation, sanitation, health, justice, and agriculture sectors.

After the visit to the MEF, the representatives of the WB and the IDB will hold a protocol meeting with the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, at the Government Palace facilities.
