Ecoplús 89 gasoline ‘survives’ at some gas stations with a 0.1% market share

The state company reminded that the calculation of this value, which is published, was made based on the current prices of oil and its derivatives on the international market, especially WTI (West Texas Intermediate), which is the benchmark for Oriente crudes. In particular, aspects that are external and do not depend directly on the country or public company.

In addition, he reiterated that they only receive subsidies from the state of Ecuador, with a frozen price, extra and ecopain gasoline, which keeps the price at $2.40 per gallon, as well as diesel, which is at $1.75 per gallon.

Finally, Petroecuador has assured that it has sufficient fuel stocks in its refineries, clean product terminals and gas stations to supply the end consumer in a timely manner and meet the country’s internal demand.

Super gasoline consumption fell 44% in the first quarter of 2023 and there is no recovery in sight

However, despite the drop in prices, Oswaldo Erazo, executive secretary of the National Chamber of Petroleum Products Distributors (CAMDDEPE), believes that the expectations are that the market for these two fuels will improve, super premium 95 and ecoplus 89. “Practically, super gasoline is barely 2% of the market, and ecoplus barely 1 x 1,000”, laments the manager.
