The application of new technologies to facilitate and speed up logistics times at the customs of the countries of the region was the main topic that closed the “II Customs Congress of the Americas and the Caribbean CADLAC” held in Guayaquil on July 7 and 8.
The congress was held in person and online and had more than 50 domestic and foreign speakers. In addition, customs representatives from Colombia, Peru, Chile and other countries in the region were also present.

On the other hand, Rafael Franco, General Manager of Manta Port Terminal, stated that “this meeting is a platform to be at the forefront of technology in port management”, in addition, “ports must develop together with new emerging technologies to maintain a constant flow of foreign stores,” added Franco.
Likewise, Vianna Maino, Minister of Telecommunications and Information Society, stated that “this second congress shows the importance that Ecuador attaches to technology, the use of information and its good management in order not only to control, but also to predict the economy, commerce and production patterns in general”.

Maino ended his speech by assuring that “we must continue to focus not only from the business and government side, on technology as a fundamental tool, but also from the citizen side, in order to prepare and get used to what we have to be as a society, in the short-term goal, that is, digital citizens.”
Meanwhile, Miguel Villacís, general manager of Senae operations, during the closing of the congress, indicated that the transfer of knowledge is the basis for the development and success of all customs in the region.
