Black Friday: Indecopi controls misleading advertising

During Black Friday – a campaign that will last all weekend – the Technical Secretariat of the Indecopi Unfair Competition Inspection Commission will be in charge of investigating whether the stores offer misleading advertising.

Thus, if it is found that the promotions do not represent a real advantage for consumers who decide to make their purchases through these digital campaigns, the stores may be penalized with fines of up to S / 3 million 800 thousand.

Indecopi specifies that in coordination with the Supervision Directorate and collecting data from the Special Monitoring Center (CEMI), to date all promotion campaigns have been supervised, including the Cyber ​​Wow in October and the Cyber ​​Days in the fortnight of November. .

Finally, they point out that it must be taken into account that promotions are intended to encourage the transaction of goods or services under exceptional, temporary conditions and must be more advantageous than ordinary conditions. These may consist of a price reduction, an increase in the number of products, contests, raffles, exchanges or the like.
