As of yesterday, the electricity rates of the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN) will be reduced by 0.64%, on average, for households and by 0.27% for commercial and industrial users after the monthly evaluation carried out by the Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin). It should be noted that the value of electricity is made up of the efficient costs of generating, transmitting and distributing the electricity to the users.
On the other hand, the rates for isolated electrical systems —which are used in remote areas— will be reduced by an average of 1.78% for homes and 2.86% for commercial and industrial users.
In accordance with current regulations, rates are reviewed by osinergmin every month, based on update formulas and values of indicators such as the Wholesale Price Index (IPM), the exchange rate, the price of natural gas, fuel prices, copper and aluminum; as well as the contracts signed between generation and distribution companies to provide electricity to users.
With renewable energies, electricity prices will be reduced in future supply tenders, according to Minem. Photo: diffusion.
So far this year, the accumulated reduction for residential users is 6.94% and for commercial and industrial users it is 7.40%.
