The government will launch in the next few days a bonus of S/900 for those citizens who work as recyclers, announced the Minister of the Environment, Albina Ruiz.
“We hope that this weekend we will have the supreme decree. The first list of 7,000 recyclers is also filtered by Reniec and Midis. The decree comes out and is immediately activated“, he told the press in the framework of the National Day of the Recycler.
The official estimates an injection of S/6.5 million in this first tranche of the bond.
The monetary aid, called Seed Capital, will be granted only once to recyclers nationwideand points to the formalization and grouping of these workers “so that they do not have to do it daily.”
Ruiz urged mayors to support recyclers within their jurisdictions to make their work easier.
They demand greater citizen participation
Román Quispe, representative of the recyclers, maintained that since 2006 they have been formalized, and called on the general population to participate in recycling programs in public spaces.
For example, Jesús López, general manager of AJE in Peru, pointed out that the placement of new containers reflects how public and private institutions can come together to develop circular economy models.
