Fine greater than S/24,000 for banks that do not use alternative channels for users with disabilities

The National Council for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (Conadis) reported that according to the General Law for Persons with Disabilities (Law 29973), banking, financial and insurance entities are obliged to provide accessible information through alternative means of communication to its users with disabilities who request it. Thus, customers have the right to demand information through the sign language format, the Braille system, large print, among others.

The governing body of the National System for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (Sinapedis) also reiterates that the Sanctions could amount to 5 UIT, equivalent to S/24,750with the possibility of increasing it if recidivism is noticed.

Complaint channels

People with disabilities can report the violation of their rights in the facilities of the Conadis headquarters, located at Av. Arequipa No. 375, Cercado de Lima. Those who live in the province can go to the Regional Coordination Center (CCR) of the institution under their jurisdiction. In this way, you will receive a ticket to be attended at the Conadis Reports Desk and a complaint request form so that you can proceed with your request.

You can also file a complaint through the virtual Reporting Table. Likewise, it is recommended that the affected person attach evidence and/or the corresponding means of proof, in order to expedite the process, which will be in charge of the Conadis Inspection and Sanctions Directorate.
