Congress: Economy Commission postpones debate on the reform of the pension system until June

yesterday the Economy Commission of the Congress met to start the debate on the proposal to reform the Peruvian pension system, a pending task for more than 20 years. However, several legislators expressed their rejection, since the working group chaired by Jorge Montoya, which was formed with the same objective, has not yet presented its final report.

In this way, it was agreed to review the opinion after June 4. It should be noted that the current legislature ends on the 15th of that month.

The president of the commission, rosangella barbaran (FP), tried to read the text of more than 200 pages, made up of 27 bills, even when the session did not have the statutory quorum, a fact that was observed by the members present.

Congressmen Carlos Anderson (not grouped), Jorge Montoya (RP), Guido Bellido (PB), German Tacuri (BM) and others argued that Montoya’s working group proposal should first be awaited.

“We have talked about not submitting this project for debate to be able to have a space that allows us to understand each other. In the same commission there cannot be two different jobs,” he said. Montoya.

He added that it should be taken into account that the Executive has until the end of May to present its proposal, so it is vital that the Congress handles a single language. Thus he promised to present the document until June 4.

For his part, Sigrid Bazan (JPP) noted that an article in the opinion, which is already in the public domain, states that everyone over 18 years of age must have an individual capitalization account (AFP), which is unconstitutional and deserves a review.

They urge to review PL for AFP withdrawals

The legislator Digna Calle (PP) once again sent a letter to Barbarán to urge her to prioritize on the agenda the debate on the opinion that authorizes the withdrawal of up to S/19,800 (4 ITU) of the AFPs.

“More than 8 million affiliates are hoping to withdraw their money to face the economic crisis,” he noted.
