BCRP: General Government investment exceeded S/3,190 million and grew 21% in April

The general government investment reached S/3,192 million and registered a 21% year-on-year growth in April, due to the higher execution of the three government instances, mainly subnational governments, reported the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP).

According to groups of projects and activities, the increase corresponded to the “rest” group of projects and activities (31.5%) and, to a lesser extent, reconstruction (7.3%), within the framework of the government-to-government agreement with the Kingdom United. On the other hand, the expense accrued under the health emergency and reactivation headings continued to decrease.

National government investment increased by 8.4% year-on-year. In regional governments, in April spending on gross capital formation expanded by 24.7% compared to the same month in 2022, and investment by local governments grew by 31.3% year-on-year.

So far in 2023, general government investment has increased by 10.5%, due to the greater dynamism of spending by the national government and regional governments by 28.7% and 13.1%, respectively. It reached an accumulated amount of S/9,407 million compared to S/8,513 in the same period last year.
