The president of Perupetro, Isabel Tafurreported that this Thursday, May 18, the tender for the new operators of oil blocks V and VI of Talara will be launched.
As part of her presentation at the decentralized session of the Congressional Energy and Mines Commission, organized in Ucayali, the official said that both contracts would be ready for delivery next October.
“I want to refer to lots V and VII. On May 18, the call for a selection process will be launched, where private capital will intervene and which will be carried out with absolute transparency. We have requested the accompaniment of the Comptroller’s Office,” he said.
In total, there are 5 lots whose contracts are close to expiring this year. Block I, temporarily operated by PetroperĂș, expires on October 21; Block V, operated by UNNA, expires on October 5; lots VI and VII, operated by Sapet, expire on October 21; and block Z-2B, which will be renamed Z-39, will cease to be managed by Savia on November 15.
“We would be in the correct term to award these two lots to the private sector. The process lasts about 4 months and until October we would already be able to sign both hydrocarbon exploitation contracts,” explained Tafur MarĂn.
The head of Perupetro clarified that these new contracts must establish a schedule of exploration activities, in order to avoid the current scenarios after the privatization of the nineties, with reserves increasingly languid at the expense of foreign companies that only dedicated themselves to drying up the oil previously discovered there.
“We must highlight that, in order to avoid the degeneration of their production, the work programs for these two lots include exploratory activities,” the official said.
The data
According to official figures from Perupetro, the controlled oil production in Block VII of Sapet was 1,045 barrels per day (bpd) in 2022. Regarding Block V of UNNA, production was 105 bpd.
