He will find them and then fix them… Read an excerpt from “The Fixer” [18+]

It threatens those who, in the name of vain desires, desecrate their bodies. He will find them, and then them. will fix. who is he? Why does he murder? And what does the case of crimes from years ago have to do with these events? We publish a fragment of Piotr Ku¼niak’s book.

What is “The Fixer” about? A city of clean and dirty business, gossip, journalists and plastic surgeons. In one of the apartments, the police find a gruesome painting made of fragments of a human body. However, the rest of the victim is nowhere to be found. Soon the murderer contacts the media… Here is an excerpt from the novel:

Max looked at the text again. In his opinion, he was good and strong, damn strong. In it, he described subsequent events that had taken place recently, and reliably outlined his relationship with the murderer. He was about to send the article to Nina when he heard a knock on the door.

–? Marta! he called, and rushed to the hall.

He turned the lock and tugged at the handle. A hooded giant stood in the corridor. He held the unconscious Martha in his arms.

“?Jesus…” the Brit moaned.

“?Step aside,” the man commanded, and took a step forward. The Briton moved out of his way, and he carried Marta into the apartment. His face was lost in the depths of the hood.

“Put her in the bedroom,” the Brit began. – That door…

“?I know where you sleep. Close the door and follow me.

Max complied. Following the stranger, he looked toward the hanging kitchen knives.

“Take the knife if you like,” said a voice from under the hood. “I can kill you with or without him.

The giant laid the sleeping Martha on the bed and stood beside her. Max sat on the edge of the mattress and grabbed her hand. The girl was pale, limp. It made her feel so excruciatingly vulnerable. She was breathing shallowly, almost imperceptibly. He involuntarily searched for a pulse on her wrist.

-?If she…

“?It’ll be okay in an hour. Don’t call any ambulance or they’ll mess it up. Inappropriate medications can harm her. She’ll wake up on her own and recover quickly. You understand?

-?I see. Brit swallowed. “Why have you come?”

“I keep my word,” the man replied in a whisper.

Max looked at the hooded figure. The guy was two meters tall. Huge shoulders, a broad torso, and strong arms stood out under the dark blouse. He wore bright green running shoes on his feet.

“I’m giving it to you because I’m… pleased with what you wrote,” he explained.

-?Why are you doing this? why are you killing?

The man didn’t answer. Maks saw the murderer’s face in passing: light blue eyes, a straight nose, the outline of a square jaw. He froze in fear.

“I kept my word, but… don’t count on an interview. Too early for that.

Brit was terrified.

“You could have left her somewhere,” he said shakily, taking out a cigarette, “and yet you came in person. That means you want to talk, right?

“? Don’t smoke around me, not in the room,” the other said.

The Brit hid the lighter but left the cigarette in his mouth. He continued:

–? Why are you so uptight? If you must kill, wouldn’t it be better to hit someone over the head with a hammer and dump the corpse in the bushes? What’s all this for?

“? For something that is… important. The man started to leave.

“?You know…people gave you a name. Brittany looked at him expectantly.

“I know, you wrote about it yourself. They call me the Fixer.

-?Do you like it?

-?I don’t know. The man turned. – And you?

–?It doesn’t matter. But what you’re doing with these women, I definitely don’t like it.

In a fraction of a second, the man grabbed Max by the neck and lifted him up like a feather. His legs dangled a few inches off the ground.

“?Jesus,” he wheezed, gasping for breath. His eyes misted over. – Let go!

–?Never try to judge what I do. “The killer put him on the ground. – You have to write. If you forget it… you will share the fate of the others. It’s time for me.

Before leaving, the man paused and pointed a rubber-gloved hand at the open Bryt laptop.

“An article for tomorrow?”

–? I’m sending right now. Do you want…

The fixer ran down the stairs. Max grabbed the phone and dialed the number.

– What about Martha? Shtiel asked.

“? F***, he was here! He was here! He gave it to me.

-?What condition is he in?

“She’s sleeping, but I don’t know what he drugged her with!” This is all going too far…too fucking far, I’m f***ing!

“? Calm down, Brit, I’m coming to you.

Max hung up. He looked at the unconscious girl. Fear for her and extreme emotions completely deprived him of strength. He was fed up with all this shit, it was beyond his strength, it was destroying him and scaring him more and more. After all, that bitch could have killed Marta, he could have killed him as well… Bryt fell heavily to his knees, hid his face in his hands and began to sob.

Ana locked the car and drove across the school’s old stone-paved parking lot. As she walked towards the building, she passed numerous groups of young people. She looked around the high school building. A dream spot for a serial killer, she thought. The building was nasty. The walls are gray and shabby, the gutters riddled with brown rust. There were vulgar inscriptions smeared with spray paint everywhere. The whole thing was more like a prison than a place of study.

Two boys were standing by the entrance.

“?Gentlemen,” Ana asked friendly, “where can I find the headmaster?”

“You have to go to the first floor, ma’am,” answered the short fat man with the red face.

“Or Angela,” the other added, pointing to the bar across the street.

–? And what does he… eat dinners?

–?There’s a rather poor chance that dinners. It’s just booze and beer, ma’am. The fat man laughed.

–? Our headmaster is cool, but he needs a drink from time to time. He has been through a lot – repeated the taller friend.

Anna looked at them surprised. They didn’t seem like troubled youth, but the way they spoke of the headmaster made her think. They weren’t making fun of him. There was something like sympathy in their voices.

“Do you think this is normal?” she asked.

The fat man smiled and whispered:

“? Probably not, but nobody sane wants to work here. It’s a fucked up place. This murderer taught here…

–?Head Cutter?

“This is where it all started,” he replied seriously.

Ana decided to stay a while longer.

“? What happened here?” do you know something?

“Everyone knows, ma’am. The fat man shrugged. “The teacher at this school cut off the heads of chicks and then fucked the bodies.

–?Jesus. Ana pretended to be shocked. “But that was a long time ago, wasn’t it?”

–? And the lady from the newspaper?

-?NO. But it’s interesting. Is the school still alive with these events?

“What are we to live on?” After all, this could be a breeding ground for people like him. We’re all sitting on a bomb that’s going to f*** off someday.

– Did the students like him? she asked carefully.

“They loved it,” the boy replied admiringly. ‘Professor Primordial supposedly had…well…

“? Charisma,” his friend suggested.

“Oh, that’s right. Twenty years have passed, and still everyone here talks only about him.

“Do you think he might have had successors among his disciples?” You know… copycats?

The fat boy looked her straight in the eyes and after a moment of thought said:

“I wouldn’t be surprised. Please ask the director. He knew him.

“? Then where exactly do I find the headmaster?”

“Well, either in the bar or inside. You have to go to the first floor and follow the corridor to the right to the end.

“I’ll try inside. Thanks.

She left the boys and soon after stood in front of the office, on the door of which hung a sign with the inscription “Jan Godowski. Director”.

She knocked on the door.
