“There is double-digit growth, but it is because we are a country that has just emerged. Compared to the regional level, we are at 4% or 5%,” said Cáceda, who added that in Latin America e-commerce generated $399 billion last year.

business dynamism

In the first quarter of this year, a growth of 357.9% was registered in the B2B industry (business to business, translated from English), which reflects the interest of local companies in adapting and diversifying their offer.

Although the great debt lies for closing the connection gaps, considering that only 74% of people have internet access.

The use of physical money falls

Only 2% of the transfers were made with cash payment at the beginning of this year. The rest of the equation is completed by debit (57%) and credit (41%) cards. Even so, despite the fact that Latin America is no longer “a highly unbanked region”, Peru has a long way to go, since 53% of its citizens are behind digitally.

Sports betting is becoming more and more important

The video game and sports betting industry accumulates a value of approximately US$15 billion, Cáceda added.

The most relevant firms in this area are Inkabet, Betsson, Total Bet and Intralot. In the background are DoradoBet, Olimpo.bet, Meridianbet and Solbet. At a third level we have Estelar Bet and Betzar.

70% of payments are made in direct transfers in Cash Payment and Safety Pay; and 30% through Visa and Mastercard. Breaking down this last segment, 80% goes to debit accounts and the remaining 20% to credit accounts.
