In the first quarter of this year, Claro Perua company that is part of the group Mobile America, grew 51.2% in its revenues compared to the same period in 2022, totaling S/2,400 million. This figure reflects the sale of 2,980 towers to Sitios Latinoamérica for S/821 million, the Mexican capital company reported today.
Until the end of March, the telecommunications company registered a total of 12.3 million mobile clients, 2.3% more than the previous year. This includes a growth of 128,000 mobile subscribers in the postpaid segment.
“We are offering attractive postpaid plans as we have seen a trend of our customers wanting to migrate from prepaid to postpaid; For this reason, our postpaid revenues increased 9.7%, while prepaid revenues decreased 4.2%,” said Carlos Solano, CFO of Claro Peru, citing a press release.
Likewise, revenues from the fixed platform increased 2.8%, with growth of 11% in pay TV revenues, 5.7% in revenues from corporate networks and 3.9% in broadband revenues. In the fixed segment, Claro Peru added 5,000 pay TV clients and 3,000 broadband accesses.
Finally, the company explained that Claro Peru’s EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) for the first quarter totaled S/1,200 million, which includes the gain from the sale of the towers. This resulted in an adjusted EBITDA of S/578 million, 12.9% more than the previous year, which shows an improvement in the equipment margin and cost control in general.
