The poet and writer Look Agur Meabe has entered this Saturday as a member of Euskaltzaindia, in a ceremony held in the basilica of Lekeitio (Bizkaia), her hometown.

Following the pertinent guidelines established by the protocol, the writer from Lekeitiarra has read the introductory speech “Itsaso bete mezu”in which he paid tribute to the people who helped him in his early days, such as Xabier Kintana or Eusebio Erkiaga, and recalled that his first reading in Basque was precisely in the Lekeitio basilica.

As reported by Euskaltzaindia, afterwards, has reeled off his poetic careerimpregnated by saltpeter, from fragments of different poems, chosen for the occasion.

After the speeches, the new academic has been sworn in, assuring that she will faithfully exercise the functions that correspond to her.
