The non-traditional exports totaled US$1,601 million in February, which meant an increase of 10.6% compared to the same month last year. This advance was explained by the higher volumes shipped (7.4%) of agricultural and fishing products. As well as, due to the 2.9% increase in the average price of textile and non-metallic mining products, reported the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP).
According to the entity, there were higher sales of non-traditional products to the United States, mainly agricultural and non-metallic mining; and China, fish products. On the other hand, there were fewer exports to the region, particularly to Bolivia and Colombia, of chemical and iron and steel products.
In the first two months of the year, non-traditional exports reached US$3,153 million, an increase of 9% compared to the same period in 2022. The volume shipped increased by 5.1% and the average price rose by 3.6% .
In the first two months of the year, shipments of grapes stood out, which grew 23.5% compared to the same month in 2022, as well as sales of frozen squid (186.4%), among other products.
