BCRP: the new recognition bonus will decompensate the ONP

Congress approved yesterday — by insistence — the updating of the recognition bonus for those affiliated to the ONP who from 2002 onwards want to migrate to the AFPs.

In this regard, from Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) They allege that the parliamentary initiative puts the ONP at risk, even more so when it is expected to lay the foundations of the pension reform.

“The recognition bonus, on the one hand, decompensates the National Pension System (SNP), where the contributors finance the payment of the pensions of current pensioners. For example, last year the fiscal cost of transfers that the Treasury has to make was 1.3 billion and that could generate greater pressure on the public budget side,” he told the press. carlos montoromanager of Monetary Policy of the BCRP.

Montoro stressed that the BCRP supports the implementation of a comprehensive reform of the pension system, and questioned the approval of a rule that “affects the balance and jeopardizes decent pensions in old age.”
