Euskaraz irakurri: Loli Garcia: “Etxebizitza eskubidea da gure herrian politika sozialak duen gabezia handiena”
The general secretary of CCOO, loli garciahas been interviewed this Wednesday on Radio Euskadi’s “Boulevard” program, where she has analyzed the current economic situation and has mainly referred to two issues that have been dotting the news lately: rise in interest rates and the consequences that this is having on mortgages, and the four day work day.
“The right to housing is the large social policy deficit in our country, and that is generating many problems. We need public policies for access to housing, more social rent and intervene in the rise in interest rates”, he stressed. Also, he added, that for this it is necessary to facilitate the transfer of variable mortgages to fixed ones, prevent exceed a percentage of income and establish public policies that facilitate the right to housing. In view of this situation, García believes that the Basque Government is not taking stepsbeyond one of a declaration of the right to housing,” since they continue to bet on the purchase of private housing.”
Regarding whether it is possible to introduce the four-day working day in the Basque Autonomous Community, the CCOO general secretary believes that it is necessary to address the reduction of working hours to reconcile personal life.
Convinced that the reduction in working hours does not have to be in days, she stressed that CCOO has been favorable at all times, unlike Confebask, which, according to what he has said, arrives with a late refusal, because “at first he did not show rejection.” “We have offered to the Department of Labor to develop this project, since the social agents also have to work on it”, he added.
Responding to the statements made yesterday on Radio Euskadi by the general director of the SEA Empresas Alavesas employers’ association, Juan Ugarte, he indicated that in the BAC there is a lot of room to reduce working time.
