The first phase for the progressive implementation of interoperability between Yape and Plin It started on March 31, where around 10,000 transactions were made between the digital wallets of a limited group of customers. Along these lines, starting tomorrow, April 12, all yape users will be reached, according to Rufino Arribas, Leader of the Yape Tribe.

“This week we have made the first 10,000 transactions between Yape and Plin. The functionality is deployed to a limited group of Yaperos already As of April 12, we will share it with the 12 million Yaperos”, he referred.

Will the operations between Yape and Plin have a cost?

The transfers between wallets will be free, but the limits and conditions of mobile wallets will be maintained. “Our yaperos must have the peace of mind that they will not be charged anything for transfers to other wallets,” added Arribas. Likewise, if a user has his mobile number registered in more than one wallet, he must indicate to the person who will send him money in which wallet he wishes to receive it.

Users will be able to pay S/500 and receive up to S/20,000 per day. For Plin clients, the maximum payment amount is also S/500 with a cap of S/1,500 per day. For the reception, the maximum amount is S/6,600 or 45 operations.

Municipal savings banks seek to implement digital wallet

The Peruvian Federation of Municipal Savings and Credit Banks (Fepcmac) announced that before June they also hope to implement a digital wallet. One of its main objectives is to offer ‘lifesaving credits’ of up to S/200. Likewise, the annual interest rate will be 50%.

In detail, there are 11 municipal savings and credit banks (CMAC): Arequipa, Cusco, Del Santa, Huancayo, Ica, Maynas, Paita, Piura, Sullana, Tacna and Trujillo. In addition, the base proposal for transactions remains at a maximum of S/500.

“The CMACs have 10 million customers. So, unlike electronic wallets, such as Yape or Plin, which make an effort to reach that number of users, in the case of municipal savings banks they can achieve it quickly,” said John Sarmiento, manager of corporate services for this guild.
