Executive must present diagnosis of the pension system this Monday, April 10

According to the agenda of the Congress of the Republic, this Monday, April 10 at 11:00 am, the Multisectoral Commission of the Executive You must present your evaluation report of the Peruvian Pension Systemas well as regulatory proposals to create the new pension system during the working group session led by the Economic Commission.

As recalled, the deadline for the delivery of this report expired on April 3, but an extension was requested and granted. Your president, rosangella barbaran, assured that if there are more delays on the part of the Executive “much more drastic decisions will be made.” The Government working group is only valid until May 31 of this year, according to DS N 012-2023-PCM.

The Multisectoral Commission is made up of the President of the Council of Ministers, the Vice Minister of Economy, the Vice Minister of Finance, the Vice Minister of Labor, a representative of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, a representative of the Superintendence of Banking, Insurance and AFP, among others, and was created in July 2022, in the government of Pedro Castillo.

Its formation occurred because “the Peruvian pension system, both public and private, has not achieved all the objectives for which they were created in terms of coverage and sufficiency, and since they are disintegrated, they are inaccessible to a large part of the population that carries out their economic activities informally, therefore it is pertinent to take action on this problem that has been postponed for decades,” is read in the norm.
