20% of jobs could be lost in Peru due to the advancement of artificial intelligence

20% of jobs could be lost in Peru if artificial intelligence (AI) is implemented to its full potential, concluded a recent report by the bank Goldman Sachs. We are in a context in which the use of AI is accelerating the automation of certain tasks and driving labor cost savings, so its macroeconomic effects are potentially large, he pointed out.

Although the impact will be greater in developed countries, it is projected that about 300 million full-time jobs are exposed. While the data sounds alarming, the good news is that the displacement of certain jobs has historically been offset by the creation of others and the emergence of new occupations, Goldman Sachs said.

“If generative AI delivers on its promised capabilities, the job market could face significant disruption. Using data on occupational tasks in both the United States and Europe, We found that roughly two-thirds of jobs today are exposed to some degree of AI automation.and that generative AI could replace up to a quarter of current work,” he explained.

What are the jobs that can be lost?

The jobs most likely to be replaced by AI in USA they are administrative and legal support; architecture and engineering; business and financial operations; community and social service; sales; among others. while, in Europe there is administrative support, technicians and associated professionals, as well as managers.

In general, manual labor is those that have less automation, such as construction, installation, maintenance, production, food preparation, transportation and others.

For his part, economist Nathan Nadramija opined that “the transition, while other types of jobs are created and workers adapt to the use of AI tools, would have high unemployment, an uncertain duration and would require many consistent public policies.”
