The Supervisory Agency for Investment in Transportation Infrastructure for Public Use (Ositrán) reported that passenger traffic in concessioned airports in Peru reached 9.41 million between January and August of this year, equivalent to an increase of 22.4% compared to the same period in 2020 (7.69 million),
Through a statistical report, the office attached to the PCM specified that, of that total, 62.4% was concentrated in the Jorge Chávez International Airport, managed by Lima Airport Partners (LAP).
Next are the airports concessioned to Airports of Peru (ADP) with 26% and Airports of Peru (AAP) with 11.6% of the total.
Similarly, the number of passengers from domestic flights was 7.80 million, 40.2% higher than that registered between January and August 2020 (5.56 million). While the number of passengers from international flights was 1.51 million, 14% lower.
Ositran: national cargo traffic
For its part, national cargo traffic exceeded 27,000 tons in the first eight months of 2021, which meant an increase of 26.4% compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, international cargo traffic was 125,923 MT, 16.9% higher.
In both cases, the Jorge Chávez airport, under LAP’s administration, was responsible for moving the highest proportion of cargo (14,162 MT and 125,903 MT, respectively).
Regarding the number of operations, which was 152,476 between January and August of this year, 53.2% corresponds to ADP, 39.4% to LAP and 7.4% to AAP.
