As of today, the Coronel FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport in iquitos and Guillermo del Castillo Paredes Airport in tarapoto –two of the main towns in northeastern Peru– they will be connected with the objective of continuing to promote the development of the airport sector in the regions and tourism in the country.
Aeropuertos del Perú (AdP) in alliance with JetSMART have made this route available, which, in a first stage, will have three weekly frequencies on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. For this journey, the airline will have the fleet of Airbus 320 aircraft with capacity for 186 passengers and the trip will have an average flight duration of 1.03 hours. It is estimated that the offer will connect approximately 4,100 passengers per month.
“With the entry of this interregional route, we aim to increase the frequency of flights between Iquitos and Tarapoto. In this way, we will have more than 10 flights to connect both cities directly, without travelers having to transfer at other airports”, pointed out the AdP Business Development manager, Ernesto Di Laudo.
According to both companies, JetSMART Cargo will be available on the Iquitos-Tarapoto interregional route, a service launched last year within the domestic market in order to provide opportunities for the commercial development of the economy of the country’s regions through cargo transportation.
For this 2023, the airline has expectations of growth in the routes currently operated in the airports licensed by AdP due to the positive response it has received from the market. Likewise, JetSMART expects to continue increasing its aircraft fleet in the coming months and is planning an increase in frequencies on current routes.
