Unemployment drops in March by 3,140 people in the CAV and by 414 in Navarra

Compared with the month of February, in Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa the decrease was 2.76% and in Navarra 1.28%. According to the Ministry of Labor of the Government of Spain, the drop is due to hiring in the service sector due to hiring for Holy Week.

Unemployment registered in March in Hego Euskal Herria it fell by 3520 people with respect to the February data; Specifically, there were 3,140 stops and less unemployed in the CAV (decrease of 2.76%), and 414 fewer in Navarre (decrease of 1.28%).

According to the data provided this Tuesday by the Ministry of Labor of the Government of Spain, in Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa there are 7,893 fewer unemployed than in March 2022, with a year-on-year decrease of 6.74%. The total number of unemployed people has stood at 109,192, falling for the first time since 2008 from 110,000 unemployed people. In Navarra, compared to the previous year, the decrease is greater, 7.12%, with 2,448 fewer unemployed. The number of stops and unemployed in the Foral Community is 31,950.

On the other hand, the number of Social Security affiliates in the CAV stood at 994,655 last March (13,847 more than in 2022), 6,506 more than the previous month, representing a growth of 0.66 %; in Navarra the increase was 0.75%, which means 2,229 more registered (5,310 more than in 2022), bringing the total to 300,937.

With regard to the Spanish State, the number of unemployed registered in the offices of the public employment services fell by 48,755 people in March in relation to the previous month (-1.67%) driven by the decrease in unemployment in the service sector for hiring for Holy Week. Thus, at the end of March, the total number of unemployed stood at 2,862,260, its lowest figure this month since 2008, according to the Ministry of Labor.

The Department headed by Yolanda Díaz has stressed that the drop in unemployment in March is “especially positive in an international context of uncertainty”, especially “in the financial sphere”.
